Laser hair reduction is an excellent option to remove unwanted hair for men and women. At CNY Healing Arts Centers in Albany and Syracuse, our trained technicians will help you achieve the results that you’re looking for!

Hormonal changes or imbalances can bring about changes in hair growth for both men and women of all ages. Oral contraceptives, menopause, and pregnancy can bring about hair growth on nipples or facial hair in women. Men may experience hair growth on upper arms, stomach or unusual patches elsewhere on the body. Sometimes, certain medications can cause unwanted hair growth as well. It is best to check with a doctor if you have a new area of hair growth that suddenly appears to rule out any underlying medical condition.

Here’s just some of the areas that laser hair removal can be used for: face, legs, arms, underarms, bikini area, chest or back. It’s a longer-lasting alternative to shaving, waxing, plucking, using chemicals or bleaching. Laser treatment allows for selective hairs to be removed while leaving the surrounding skin undamaged. Sometimes during the use of home treatments, many times the skin can be damaged from excess chemicals such as bleaching or depilatories.

How does it work? The light of the laser penetrates the hair follicle. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicles and destroys the hair within the follicle. The number of sessions depends on the area being treated, but is estimated between three to five sessions for maximum results.
