Celebrate National Yoga Month this September with CNY Healing Arts Centers! Yoga is an ancient practice that offers a slew of health benefits, and impacts lives in so many positive ways! At CNY Healing Arts, there is a yoga class designed for everyone!
The physical poses or ‘asanas’ that are used during yoga incorporate breathing exercises, and even meditation. This helps to create the mind-body connection. Yoga is so good for everyone because it is a low-impact exercise that delivers results! During gentle stretching and breathing, you’re helping to build muscle while in a relaxed, soothing atmosphere. Tension and stiffness melt away during a yoga class, as the poses help to increase flexibility and balance.
There are more vigorous forms of yoga which help to further increase muscle tone and help to build strength. The flexibility of the poses increase one’s stability which is beneficial as we age, and for other cross-training purposes.
Yoga helps to lower blood pressure and lower the heart rate, as well as to improve circulation throughout the body. In turn, this has a positive effect on our attitude and outlook on life. When the body relaxes, the mind does too which is why this practice is so helpful for anyone who is feeling stressed out, or going through challenges in their lives.
The breathing that is used during classes helps to quiet the body and the mind. Proper breathing can help all of your body—just note the difference when you take a deep breath. You feel relaxed, in control, and empowered. This is the feeling you get from yoga and then some! Yoga helps to make you feel “grounded” or more connected and in-tune to your environment, and helps to build connections with others. Concentration improves, focus improves, and your ability to see things in a new light.
