Penny- How are you doing?? Where are you in the process?? It's so exciting....when Matt and I signed up with STAR and started the whole prcoess: paperowrk, homestudy, classes, profile/scrapbook we instantly knew that this was the journey we were meant to be on...Back in December, they offered all five of the classes in one weekend(Friday 6-9 and all day Saturday), for those who lived far away!! Highly recommend the classes, there were 15 other couples in the class with us and were able to network, make new friends etc...We learned so much! If I could be an advocate for STAR, I'd sign up in a heartbeat. Out of that weekened class, I think 5 or 6 had all adopted by March...which is impressive and promising...It all depends on how open you are on the health grid...Matt and I were more selective and became more open on the way as we spoke with doctors, friends and nurses!
If you ever want to meet, chat on the phone/email, let me know....I love talking adoption.....way more positive feeling than dwelling on the infertility! One more thing, STAR has their own support group and once you are "adoption ready" then you are approved by the site administrator to join....another GREAT resource
